Volunteer Requirements 

• Time Commitment – Volunteers must be able to make a commitment of 3 hours per week for at least three months, with the exception of foster parents and other select volunteer roles. After your first 3 months, we ask that you strive to volunteer 8 hours per month thereafter. 
  • If you would like to support our mission but can’t make a regular commitment, there are many ways to help:
    • Couch Crashers Foster Program
    • Lap Crashers Foster Program
    • Host your own pet supplies drive for our Pet Food Bank
    • Take a shelter dog out for a field trip through our ʻĪlio Explorers program
• Availability & Scheduling – Utilizing a scheduling system allows us to anticipate when volunteers are available, and when we need to solicit more help. As we do rely on our volunteers to support staff to care for the animals and to serve our community, it is required to have a regular, weekly scheduled shift. Shifts are typically offered in 3-hour shifts. 
• Age – Most volunteer roles require you to be at least 18 years old. Limited positions are available to the youth 8-14 years of age with an adult and youth 15-17 years of age independently.
