Dakota is a handsome 4-year-old pittie mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart for people. He is social, affectionate, and loves being around his humans, whether that’s soaking up pets, leaning in for attention, or happily working for treats (he’s extremely food motivated!). Dakota walks nicely on leash with some enthusiasm and enjoys getting out to sniff and explore. He knows how to settle with guidance and does best when he has structure, enrichment, and a calm routine to help him feel secure. Dakota would thrive in a home that can give him continued positive outlets for his energy and support him as he decompresses from the shelter environment. He would do best with slow introductions to other dogs and would benefit from meeting any resident dogs prior to adoption. Because he has a strong interest in small animals, a home without cats or small pets is recommended. With his love for people, eagerness to engage, and loyal nature, Dakota has the potential to be a wonderful companion for someone ready to give him patience, consistency, and a fresh start.
