Spay and Neuter: Free-Roaming Cats

Hawaiian Humane supports the Trap Neuter Return Manage (TNRM) strategy as a humane way to lower the Free-Roaming cat population over time. 

The Hawaiian Humane Society’s Ginny Tiu Community Spay/Neuter Center is a specialized high-quality high-volume spay/neuter clinic designed to increase the availability of affordable cat and dog spay/neuter services for the community.  

Spay/neuter procedures for Free-Roaming cats include anesthesia, surgery, microchip, ear notch, FVRCP vaccine and post-operative pain medication.

Free-Roaming Cat Spay/Neuter surgeries are booked by online appointment. All online requests are first-come, first-serve for Wednesdays and Thursdays; 1 cat per appointment.

If a Free-Roaming cat is intended to become an indoor pet, an appointment can be scheduled online and this intent should be noted on the online application.

This is a same-day procedure, meaning all Free-Roaming cats must be picked up the day of their procedure.

Spay/Neuter fees for Free-Roaming cats

Fees are currently waived. Thanks to our partnership with the City & County of Honolulu, fees for spay/neuter of Free-Roaming cats are waived while funding lasts through the Feline Fix program. Click HERE to learn more about this program and other Feline Fix providers.

Hours of Operation

Free-Roaming Cat Spay/Neuter surgeries are by online appointment only. All online requests are first-come, first-serve for Wednesdays and Thursdays, and limited to 4 cats per person or organization.

7 am – 9 am

Pick-Up
4:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Generally, the specifications of FRCs are unknown. If this is the case, please use the following answers in the questionnaire when you book your appointment:
  1. Animal name- “FRC1 (your last name)”
  2. Species- select “cat”
  3. Sex- select “Female”
  4. Weight- select “6”
  5. Age- select “1yr”
  6. Breed- select “domestic shorthair”
  7. Color- select “unknown”
Please indicate in the questionnaire if you would prefer the soonest available appointment or would prefer a scheduled date. 
 

Be advised: Free-Roaming Cat appointments can only be scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. If you request an appointment for Saturday, your appointment request will be denied.
