About 600 people volunteer with the Hawaiian Humane Society in a variety of capacities: foster care, taking their own pets to hospitals and senior centers, adoptions events, animal care, dog walking, cat socialization and more. Help is needed in every area.
Parent-child teams in which keiki are 8 to 13 must attend trainings and volunteer together. Children must have their parent accompany them at all times during their volunteer shift. Volunteers must be 14 or older to work independently at the shelter. They must be able to work a three-hour shift weekly for a minimum of three months. Youth who are in need of meeting community service project requirements for school must apply here.
Volunteers are also needed at animal welfare groups throughout Oahu.
