Middle & High School Contests

Identify and develop a solution for an issue facing companion animals in your neighborhood and you could win big! Enter your life-saving idea in the Hawaiian Humane Society’s Pause4Paws Mixed Media contest for a chance to win $150 cash, a full scholarship to our popular summer teen camp and a school trophy!

Teachers can contact education@hawaiianhumane.org on how to integrate this contest into their curriculum activities.


Student Prizes
Top winner in each category wins:
• $150 cash and a pet gift basket
• A school trophy with your name
• Scholarship to the Hawaiian Humane Society’s Summer Experience class for winners 14 years and older ($195 value)

All students in grades 6-12 living on Oahu are eligible to compete in this contest. Students may participate with partners or groups. All are encouraged to enter as many times and in as many categories as they wish.

Each category is judged separately.

Submission topics
• Entries should identify and develop a solution for an issue facing companion animals in the student’s community.

Submission details and rules
• Video submission requirements:
   • Usage must be secured for all footage, music or photography
   • Videos must be 2 minutes or less and submitted as .mpg4 or .avi files
   • Videos must close with the current Hawaiian Humane Society logo and URL
• Essay submission requirements:
   • Length: 450 word maximum, double spaced
   • Submissions must be submitted as .doc, .txt or .pdf files
• Slideshow submission requirements:
   • Submissions should be sent as a .pdf or .ppt file
• General rules:
   • DEADLINE FOR ALL ENTRIES: Midnight March 31, 2015
   • Entries must be submitted in electronic format to http://www.tfaforms.com/340051
   • Contest participation indicates permission for the Hawaiian Humane Society to use entries at its discretion
   • Winners will be announced during Be Kind to Animals Week, May 3 - 9, 2015
