When You Have to Decide

Euthanasia is never an easy decision to make and it takes a great deal of strength and love. Pet owners throughout the years have said that their decision was based on the fact that their pets could no longer live with dignity and without pain. This self-sacrifice, giving up your companion in order to ease the animal's pain, may elicit many emotions in you.

You may feel guilty, thinking no task should have been too difficult in order to save your pet's life. If so, it is important to nurture yourself and remember all the things you were able to do for your pet.

You may feel angry for being forced to make this decision. Remember that your pet could not make the choice personally and most certainly could not carry it out.

Finally, you may feel the positive reaction of relief. Your pet is at peace after suffering and you also should allow yourself some peace. Things are now better for your pet and you.
