To Schedule Cat Sterilization Surgery

  • Call 946-2187 to schedule surgery.
  • Surgery is limited to two cats per person per day.
  • Surgery guidelines are available here for preparing your pet for surgery and care afterwards. Touch Surgery Guidelines (PDF file) for this page of information.
  • Humane cat traps are available in the Incoming Animals area, open 24 hours. Call 946-2187 to reserve a humane trap.
  • Surgery is performed seven days a week except holidays.
  • Cats must be brought to the Humane Society in a humane trap (one cat per trap). Humane animal traps make it safter to handle the cats and there is less likelihood of the cats injuring themselves or the handler. Touch Trap Instructions (PDF file) for this page of information.
  • Bring cats to the Incoming Animals area at 2700 Waialae Avenue, between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. on the scheduled day of surgery. Those brought in after 8 a.m. will be sterilized the following day, if surgery space is available. Listen to the feral hotline message for up-to-date information: 946-2187
  • Cats will be examined to assess their health for surgery. Caretakers will be notified immediately if cats are not good surgery candidates.
  • Absorbable sutures will be used so there will not be a need to bring the cat back.
  • Cats will be ear-notched (to identify them as neutered).
  • All cats in this program must have microchip identification. ID can be provided by the caretaker or purchased from the Society for $5 each when the cat is brought in for surgery. ID will be applied at the Humane Society only when the cat is under anesthesia.
  • Fill out the Agreement Form in advance or when you bring in the cat. Payment for microchip identification is due at that time.
  • Pick up the cat on the day after surgery between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
