on the Path
Hawaii’s beautiful outdoors speaks to canines and humans
alike! Paws on the Path is a hiking group that helps dogs and their human
companions enjoy nature in the company of others. Hikes are usually on the last
Saturday of each month and are led by Humane Society volunteers. All friendly,
sociable dogs are welcome, and most hikes are easy, low-risk and classified as
novice. Hikes average three miles and take approximately two hours.

Guidelines for hikes:
- Tell someone where you are going and what time you'll be back
- Always stay with the group
- Stay on marked trails
- One dog per person
- All dogs must be kept on-leash
- Keep trails and lunchsites litter free
- Bring plastic bags to pick up after your dog
- Treat trees and plants with respect and care
Items to bring for your dog:
- Leash
- Collar with ID/license
- Litter bags
- Water and bowl
- Snack
- Booties for your dog's paws (if necessary)
- Towel for cleaning after hike
Suggested items to bring for yourself:
- Hiking boots
- Drinking water
- Lunch/snack
- Hat
- Toilet paper
- Insect repellent
- Sun screen
- Cellular phone
- Rain gear
