Animalport
We provide temporary care for animals transiting Honolulu International Airport. The Hawaiian Humane Society's animal care staff is on call 24 hours a day to receive animals and provide crate services for animal travelers at our Animalport at Honolulu International Airport. Notify your airline in advance if you would like to use these services while in Honolulu. There is a fee for the services. For information, call 946-2187, ext. 280.

Euthanasia
Euthanasia is a humane alternative for pets that are very old or sick. There is a fee for this service. For information, call 946-2187, ext. 285.

Humane Traps
The public can borrow humane traps from us to capture cats or dogs that are causing problems on private property. There is no fee for the use of the traps, but a refundable deposit is required for dog traps. We will also provide you with instruction on the proper use of the trap. Traps are in great demand so it is recommended that you call before visiting the shelter to make sure a trap is available. Traps can be picked up at the Incoming Animals area. Phone 946-2187, ext. 285.

Legislative Action
We are advocates for animals and lobby actively for local and national legislation that will benefit them. We also strongly state our opposition to legislation that may be harmful to animals. Check the current issues section to see what is currently being considered.

Sheltering
We are an open-access shelter and provide temporary care for lost and homeless animals of all kinds. We will not turn an animal away. Although there are minimum holding times established by law for cats and dogs, most of our animals stay with us much longer while we are trying to return them home or find them a new one. For information, call 946-2187, ext. 280.
