Bandit
  • Registration No.: 08-1372
  • Breed: Domestic Short Hair
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 1 Year
  • Description: Unbelievably, this Calico standout with the gorgeous mask was brought in as a counter stray on January 23rd. She is shy and timid (as her dilated pupils will attest), but can be handled with encouragement and, over time, is able to relax. Such is life on the lam. Bandit is litter box trained, has a fabulous coat and good conformation and, again, her markings are exceptional. She is also very playful. Our vet staff has found growths that may require further exam by your private vet.

Gus
  • Registration No.: 07-28885
  • Breed: Domestic Short Hair
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 3 Years
  • Description: "Look deeply into my eyes, and you will see that within the heart of every stray lies the singular desire to be loved." Gus knows whereof he speaks. This tiger and white boy was a military stray, found on December 14th. Though a bit shy initially, he has definitely come out of his shell and could rightly be called a real lovebug now. Gus would make a great addition to most any type of family.

Marley
  • Registration No.: 08-1593
  • Breed: Domestic Medium Hair
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 4 Years
  • Description: "Day 4 of my captivity. My captors continue to torment me with bizarre dangling objects and toys of unknown origin. I am surrounded by others of my species, but not one of them can match my looks. I am indisputably the most fetching feline in the entire Cathouse. I do so wish these other miscreants were more amusing or had more purr-sonality -- it would help pass the time while I plot my escape. As it is, they bore me no end, and I fear I may fall into a cat-atonic trance before I'm able to spring this joint."

Portia
  • Registration No.: 08-1585
  • Breed: Siamese Mix
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 5 Years
  • Description: Boy, a lot of folks surrendered their pets during the month of January, and portly Portia met the same fate on January 26th. This big girl with the sky blue eyes and Siamese markings is middle-aged and, like many of us, finds herself considerably overweight. She should see your private vet for special diet instructions. If she were a few pounds lighter, not only would she feel better -- she'd add years to the 9 lives she already has!

Sassy
  • Registration No.: 08-1693
  • Breed: Domestic Short Hair
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 2 Years
  • Description: It is unfortunate that black cats simply do not photograph as well as other types of cats. It is hard to capture Sassy's silky, shiny black coat and luminous green eyes. This military stray is quiet and calm, and may prefer a less frenetic environment. Sleek and slim, Sassy has legs on him like a thoroughbred race horse. In fact, around here -- he's known as the "Barbero of Manoa!"

Uulei
  • Registration No.: 08-1717
  • Breed: Domestic Short Hair
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 1 Year
  • Description: With Valentine's Day just around the corner, here is the "purr-fect" gift for your honey -- a cat born on February 14th! White and black and good-sized without being fat, this owner-surrendered kitty is sleek and self-confident without being standoffish. As an added bonus, if you're into photography -- Uulei is more than happy to accommodate you. He is not at all camera-shy and, in his own words, does not have "a bad angle."

ARCHIVEAre kittens available?

  • Breed: all colors, breeds

dogs

Alii
  • Registration No.:08-112
  • Breed: Pitbull/American Bulldog Mix
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 3 Years, 7 Months
  • Description:After 70 years, the worthy Bulldog has just made the list of "Top 10 Dogs" in the U.S., and we are pleased to showcase happy Alii who carries the bloodline. This white and brown, medium-sized animal has a rather thin coat, but tons of energy and a great attitude. Alii is Heartworm positive, a treatable disease by your private vet. If left alone, he will vocalize for attention. Sooooo, you've gotta give him LOTS of attention!

Angel
  • Registration No.:08-1254
  • Breed: Pitbull Mix
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 5 Years
  • Description:Who would surrender such a sweet animal? Surely, there must have been a very good reason. This black beauty with a white blaze on her chest is so smart -- she loves to learn and lives to please. Go ahead, teach her anything! Angel has a most endearing, deprecating way about her, and she adores her tennis ball. What a sweetheart! She does have one broken tooth that will require DDS work; after that, she's your dream dog come true.

Chase
  • Registration No.:07-28196
  • Breed: Boxer Mix
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 2 Years, 11 Months
  • Description:This tan and black Boxer mix was an owner surrender on December 5th. He is a somewhat skittish animal who reacts to strange noises and, if cornered, may snap out of fear. Chase will sometimes guard special toys and/or treats, is afraid of keiki, and may try to avoid them. This is not to say he cannot learn to change his ways. Chase is still a young dog, and he just needs to be exposed to different situations and people. Do you have the time and enough love in your heart to give Chase his second chance?

Limmiwinks
  • Registration No.:08-1632
  • Breed: Labrador/Basset Hound Mix
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: 6 Years
  • Description:"Well, I dunno what I did wrong, but my people dumped me off at this cool place on January 27th, and I been makin' good pals ever since! I got a kennel all to myself, with big doggies guarding me on both sides, and I have a nice cot to lie down on in the shade if I get too warm. Peeps are constantly walking by and telling me what a good dog I are! Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy -- here come some more right now! The Staffers give me toys and treats all day long, and I even get to go for long walks around the 'hood! I think I've died and gone to The Rainbow Bridge!!"

Tobey
  • Registration No.:08-657
  • Breed: Fox Terrier/Chihuahua Mix
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 2 Years, 3 Months
  • Description:This tan, smooth-coated Terrier mix was a counter stray on January 13th. Unlucky number for poor Tobey. However, make no mistake about it, young Tobey rules the roost -- all 10 lbs. of him! He doesn't get along with kids; hasn't been around other pets and, therefore, prefers to be an "only child;" is sometimes jealous of having to share your attention; loves to dig and has escaped under fences before and ... he's a jumper! All of the above notwithstanding, he is an adorable little fellow who just needs the right blend of discipline and love -- to bring out his full potential.

Tiny
  • Registration No.:07-28315
  • Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 7 Years
  • Description:That's my Tiny Honeybun -- tra-la, tra-la. Well, we don't know exactly how much Tiny weighs (and he's too vain to say), but there's nothing tiny about him; he's probably 10-20 lbs. overweight. In order to extend the life of this great-looking animal, he needs to be put on a special diet recommended by your private vet. That means no table scraps and no munching between meals. AND, tons of exercise; slowly at first, and then build up. Tiny was a stray, and he likes to vocalize for attention. Also, he does not like being left behind and may complain loudly.

ARCHIVEAre puppies available?!?
  • Registration No.: NEW
  • Breed: all sizes, colors, breeds
  • Gender: M&F
  • Age: 8 weeks and up
  • Description: MAYBE! Puppies are usually adopted quickly, so be here when we open and play with the pups. If you like one, put your name on our list and meet with an adoption counselor. Be patient -- it may take several visits to find your true puppy love.

Other Animals

Penny
  • Registration No.:08-1270
  • Breed: Rabbit
  • Gender: Female
  • Age: Unknown
  • Description: Sadly, this darling rabbit was an owner surrender on January 22nd. She is all alone at the shelter, and feeling quite blue. Grey and fawn in color, with big brown eyes and ears like a windmill, this good luck Penny is clearly accustomed to being handled and would make an excellent pet for keiki or kupuna -- or, for that matter, anything in between!

ARCHIVESilver
  • Registration No.:08-30148
  • Breed: Rabbit
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: Unknown
  • Description: Silver is a large, handsome grey and tan bunny. A counter stray on January 2nd, Silver has not exactly started the New Year off in the grandest of fashions. This enchanting fellow with the big brown eyes and long lashes loves to have his head gently rubbed. He's a very curious and loving bunny, and he's waiting for you to discover him!

ARCHIVESushi
  • Registration No.:08-467
  • Breed: Guinea Pig
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: Unknown
  • Description: Now here is a black and white streak if ever there was one. This little piggy has more moves than a maggot in hot grease! Sushi would benefit greatly from some patient, hands-on treatment -- in order not to be so skittish. He would do well with an older, pre-teen child who enjoys playing with animals.

ARCHIVEJake
  • Registration No.:080324829
  • Breed: Rabbit
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: Adult
  • Description: Jake is a socialized bunny looking for just the right home. This neutered male is a healthy bundle of joy ready for his new family today.
