The remainder of the Pomeranians are in foster care due to medical issues for at least the next several weeks. The average age of these rescued animals is 10 years old. Per our standard policy, foster families will have the first option to adopt these animals.
On May 14, 2013, the Hawaiian Humane Society followed up on a tip about dogs living in deplorable conditions. As a result, 43 Pomeranian dogs were surrendered to our care from a Halawa breeder who stated she sold her pups at Petland Kahala’s puppy swap meet and other outlets. She was active in the show dog world.
The Humane Society strongly urges all those who buy puppies to ensure to inspect the living conditions of the pup’s parents. Pet shops and internet sales protect irresponsible breeders who may not want you to see how they care for animals they sell.
We hope this situation from which these dogs have been rescued inspires you to advocate for adoption and to acquire purebreds responsibly. Share this web page through your social media networks.
