Programs for Educators - Workshops
UH Outreach College Workshop – Humane Education, Values Education Explore the many facets of humane values presented in the context of character education. This one day workshop provides educators with practical methods to integrate humane education material in to their curriculum. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion. Service Learning Workshop - Combining Character and Community This two-hour workshop is designed for educators in all settings – schools, youth organizations and children’s programs. Held twice a year, the workshop helps educators design high-quality and meaningful service learning experiences for students. Attendees will receive a certificate upon completion. Additional Resources Humane Values Lesson Plans - Promoting Humane and Character Education These advisory lessons are designed for 7th to 12th grades and can be modified for elementary grade levels. To preview the material, contact 356-2206 or education@hawaiianhumane.org (type Advisory Lesson Plans in the e-mail subject line). KIND News: Read all about it! Encourage good character in children with an emphasis on kindness to animals, respect for natural habitats, good citizenship, and peaceful conflict resolution. The Humane Society wants to “adopt” a limited number of kindergarten through 6th grade classrooms, by providing a free nine-month subscription to KIND News, an award-winning newspaper that promotes reading and writing.
